Basics Course
NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Class
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation and is available in an 8-hour instructor-led course. This course takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment. It may be completed in a single-day format or over several days with smaller blocks of instruction.

What You Will Learn
Gun Safety
Gun safety is the study and practice of using, transporting, storing, and disposing of firearms and ammunition.
Pistol Operation
You will learn how to properly operate a pistol, the terminology, and the basic cycles of operation.
Ammunition Basics
The material covered will include the basic components of ammunition, proper storage, and choosing the right ammunition for your pistol.
Shooting Fundamentals
You will learn how to safely handle and discharge a pistol. At live-range practice, we will cover stance, grip, breathing, trigger control, and more.
Pistol Maintenance
In this course, you will learn how to properly clean and maintain a pistol. And, we will cover why these steps are necessary.
